Position Overview:  

This position is responsible for a multi-state territory, leading field staff and safety team members according to risk opportunities and prioritization.  Initiate and lead strategy between operations and safety according to market strategies set for the region, individual markets and SIF (serious injury/fatality) prevention efforts. Will coordinate the implementation of RIsk Management practices  specific to an assigned region with specific intent to support the organization in achieving business goals and reducing the frequency and severity of business losses, such as; general liability, professional liability, property, crime, workers’ compensation, workplace violence, and employment law litigation.  Initiate and lead strategy between operations and safety according to market strategies set for the region, individual markets and SIF (serious injury/fatality) prevention efforts.

Principle Responsibilities     

  • Directly manage and supervise other Safety professionals including Regional Safety Managers & Regional Safety Supervisors in all aspects.  Including coaching, training, performance to achieve market goals and targeted loss rate goals, HR/personnel, and compensation matters.
  • Develop and drive regional safety strategy with field market leadership using all available methods to drive down loss rates. Be an influencer with all levels of leadership at both the field and client level.
  • Ensure market strategy for safety is driven through each team member’s PDCA process: PDCA worksheets, short term/long term goals, safety action plans per opportunity and Top 5/Next 5, SIF prevention strategies), documentation Riskonnect
  • Market Strategy: connected to market leadership for input, buy-in and planning
  • Manage progress and development with other safety team members as assigned for:PDCA process: RSM/RSS oversight and support
  • Safety Specialty Group: progress and development for assigned teams
  • Lead according to the core values of Randstad, guiding principles, strategic initiatives and lean methodology (OWOW
  • Provide legal department and contracts team with review and analysis of contract liabilities for approval or rejection of customer terms. Resolve difficult client contract negotiations working in partnership with the legal team to protect Randstad from liabilities associated with safety issues and general liability claims. Handle escalated contract reviews where exceptions to standard contract language are needed for signature
  • Assist field operations in:
  •  the evaluation of new clients (within assigned territory) to determine how they can be serviced safely and profitably.
  •  Achieving acceptable levels of risk in market and client locations through risk assessment, safety intervention methods, Safety Coach and other initiatives specific to line-of-business
  • Assist field operations in reducing employee accidents at client sites. Perform accident investigations of significant and/or catastrophic claims and develop an action plan to prevent or reduce the chance of recurrence .  Provide assistance to third party adjusters, legal counsel, managed care nurses, and Claims Manager relative to accident
  • Serve as representative for OSHA inquiries and case management
  • Ensure markets are equipped to manage initial contact/information requests from state/federal agencies
  • Develop and analyze loss-cause data to identify critical safety issues surrounding frequency and severity trends in assigned territory.  Develop and implement an action plan for targeting problematic clients, branches, and areas with unfavorable loss experience
  • Manage, implement and conduct on-site safety and risk management training for field operations.  Assist field with management and guidance surrounding responsibilities for compliance within safety and all workers’ compensation programs
  • Member/support of Safety Specialty Group as a Team Lead
  • Ensure safety team members are connected to and supporting other Safety Specialty Groups, ensuring effort and success through MAP goals and other Safety Directors

Education & Qualifications (Required and Preferred):  

  • College degree required, or in process of completion. Minimum 8-10 years of direct industry experience, including managing direct reports.   
  • Professional certifications or designations preferred (ASP, CSP, ARM), or in-process of achieving.
