Position Title: RT Immigration Specialist

External Description:

Position Objective:
RT delivers full-service capabilities to its clients by connecting talented IT professionals with organizations where they can produce results. The Immigration Specialist is a high-specialized role that requires a knowledge of and expertise in immigration law compliance, as well as the recruitment and assessment of IT professionals for placement in specialized, niche and often hard-to-fill client-facing positions. This Immigration Specialist requires an understanding of immigration law and compliance with a concurrent knowledge of the IT profession and related client requirements. The Immigration Specialist will exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance that are directly related to the management and operation of the business, including:
 
Position Summary:
  • Engaging with professional IT candidates as a single point of contact for immigration matters.
  • Assisting RT recruiters and other field professionals with immigration related queries in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Ensuring compliance with established procedures, labor agreements, and applicable laws, including federal immigration laws.
  • Proactively monitoring and evaluating applicant candidate pool and recalibrate sourcing strategy, as well as immigration compliance, as needed.
  • Assessing candidate qualifications from both an IT and immigration perspective, including candidate’s eligibility for new or transferred visas/work authorizations and prior compliance with immigration laws.
  • Screening candidates for full understanding of availability, interest levels, visa status, salary range, relocation needs, and basic qualifications.
  • Evaluating employment factors such as job experience, education, skills, training, fit with organization, and future potential.
  • Making independent determinations and recommendations as to which candidates qualify for placement with clients based on IT qualifications and immigration compliance considerations.
  • Maintaining efficient and effective communications that support the recruiting activity.
  • Establishing and maintaining a network of contacts with recruiters from your region’s branch offices.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing immigration laws, regulations, and business priorities.
  • Strong candidate screening and interviewing skills – such as behavioral based interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to quickly and thoroughly assess a high volume of resumes and candidates.
  • Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of HR policies and procedures, operations, compensation, and benefits.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Superior customer service and responsiveness.
  • Exceptional team work and collaboration skills with a positive, can-do attitude, and have a recruiter mindset.
  • High level of proficiency with Bullhorn, Microsoft Office Suite, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel to regional branch offices and corporate - if and when required.
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
 
Work Experience
  • 2 – 4 years of related experience
