Benefits Analyst supports the evaluation, planning and administration of Randstad’s  retirement programs for US employees for multiple  defined contribution (401(k)) and deferred compensation plans; assists in assessing the effectiveness of programs in meeting overall benefits objectives, the development and implementation of changes and improvements to benefits programs, as appropriate, including the integration of benefit programs following mergers and acquisitions. Works strategically with various departments, i.e. payroll, accounting, HR support call center, and business integration, as well as partnering with vendors to ensure administration of the plans is efficient, accurate, and in full compliance with the written plan documents, ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations.

  • Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
  • Become primary contact & subject matter expert for the defined contribution and deferred compensation retirement plans by learning the plans. Support retirement program administration through the use of several HRIS programs and vendor websites. Ability to research discrepancies and errors and advise team and various departments on how to resolve the issue and support the resolution. Directly resolve or provide support to Sr. Benefits Analyst on escalated participant issues via appropriate tools and communication paths. Counsel and educate participants regarding benefit programs and plan administration processes for basic issues and help HR Support center staff to address basic questions and calls. Position requires attention to detail and the ability to clearly document processes in a “lean” environment.  Function independently, but know when to escalate issues and ask for help. Partake in a collaborative and open relationship with the team.
  • Collaborate with vendors (plan administrators) and consultants as needed. Provide direction to vendors based on retirement team decisions and discussions to ensure proper delivery of plan requirements and service quality standards.  Support contact to plan administrators for required plan audits and testing efforts. Keep team aware of issues and participate in discussions with plan administrators to analyze and resolve participant issues in accordance with plan requirements and best practice.
  • Support processing of all documents necessary for implementation of various benefits programs and maintenance of such records as required for compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL , and other applicable regulations.  Participate in updating active employee SPDs, SARs, SMMs and IRS 5500 compliance. Maintain updated information on all documents, amendments, and consent resolutions.
  • Support work with the benefits, marketing team, and vendors in developing and coordinating all applicable communications to employees regarding plan overviews for business units, and enrollment including providing collateral materials to vendor resources and other relevant parties for open enrollment.
  • Ability to research benefits issues and formulate resolutions by applying best practices and plan knowledge.  Research and analyze data files in support of required plan testing, administration, and audits. Work with payroll and business integration to design and develop administrative process and reports.

Education & Qualifications (Required and Preferred): 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • At least 2 to 3 years of retirement experience with the ability to self-learn. Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions supported by facts and data.
  • Ability to identify and summarize issues to support senior members of the retirement team in making recommendations to leaders to support policy changes, new strategies and initiatives. Ability to articulate issues and be appropriately diplomatic, and understand others’ roles and perspectives.  Provide supporting information to allow Retirement team to provide knowledgeable direction to leaders.  Build cross-functional relationships to build support and create results.
