The Vice President, Communications is a leader, strategist and storyteller responsible for directing and mentoring the Communications team to evolve the function’s role, focus and success metrics. This role is combined into four key areas: employee communications, executive communications, thought leadership and crisis communications. Reporting to the CMO, the VP should feel comfortable shifting between strategy and execution while handling a high volume of projects, being a key liaison to the entire C-suite and act as a strong ambassador of the brand. The VP will work closely with the North America leadership team to set and drive strategic direction for the company’s overarching communications goals. This position is perfect for a strong communicator with sound judgment and problem-solving skills with a passion for executing comprehensive communications strategies.
The VP, Communications is a Managerial position that is responsible for directing and mentoring the Communications team to evolve the Function’s role, focus and success metrics.
The VP, Communications will exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance that are directly related to the management and operation of the business,
Duties and Responsibilities
• Internal Communications:
• Employee communications. Operationalize Randstad’s corporate narrative.
• Lead the development of internal messages and campaigns to inform, engage, recognize, and motivate staff and provide managers with tools to do the same through a variety of print and digital formats, including memos, scripts, presentations, videos, emails. Build and maintain a strong network of business partners across all levels of the organization.
• Executive Communications:
• Executive communications. Communications counsel and guidance to executive management to help the organization communicate and disseminate company information among key stakeholders. Serves as the campaign manager for the North America CEO, driving thought leadership positioning both within and outside of the company.
• Thought Leadership:
• Thought leadership. Set the strategic direction of external communications and media efforts, including collaborating with senior management to secure buy-in and engagement on executive visibility and media initiatives that are aligned with the company's business objectives and ‘Future of Work’ thought leadership agenda. Guide the PR Manager and agency in strategy execution to identify, develop, pitch and place relevant stories in top tier business, consumer and nationwide outlets. Employ social/digital media strategies to advance communications goals.
• Crisis Communication:
• Crisis communications in partnership with crisis communications agency partner, serve as the senior counsel to the executive team and senior leadership on communication strategies and implications for impacted audiences internally and externally.
• Works closely with the Legal team to develop messages, facilitate the review and approval process as well as the distribution.
Education
- Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree
Work Experience
- 10- 15 year experience in a communications capacity
- Experience at a publicly-traded company strongly preferred, global preferred
- Must have been in a leadership role within all disciplines of management mentioned above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Experience in crisis communications and issues management required
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple assignments, stringent deadlines and changing priorities
- Detail oriented with a high concern for quality
- Continually seek to innovate and introduce breakthrough ideas, approaches and solutions with communications
- Experience in change management and culture change initiatives a plus
- Familiarity with all aspects of public company communications requirements
- Proficient using Google mail, calendaring and shared drives
